Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan’s cancellation is “very worrying”, according to Spiked Online’s Chief Political Writer Brendan O’Neill.
Mr Vaughan has been stood down by the BBC over allegations the 47-year-old made racist comments to players of Asian descent in 2009.
“I find this very worrying, and you can’t just suspend someone, and punish someone, and publicly humiliate them … on the basis of an allegation,” Mr O’Neill told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“Moreover, something that happened 11 years ago – people can misremember things.
“We don’t know the context in which he said those words, we don’t even know if he said them.
“It doesn’t stack up for me at all.”
